Yo

It's 2023 and I distantly remembered a phase where everyone was sending each other a push notification. It wasn't a Facebook Poke, it wasn't a Snapchat Poke. It was something different. Out the corner of my mind, I knew the app icon was purple. And searching for all these things made it really hard to find online.

Until I remembered! It was called Yo.

Yo was listed on the Android Play Store under the name Life Before Us LLC and was released for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone. The only functionality, at first, was to send the user's friends the word "yo" as a text and audio notification. Eventually, they updated it so you could attach links and locations to the Yo.

It was developed by Israeli developer Or Arbel in eight hours at the request of Moshe Hogeg, CEO of Mobli, who asked Arbel to design a single-button app to send a notification to his assistant or wife. Arbel went on to become the CEO and Founder of Anima App.
